Meeting with the Youth Enterprise Fund Board and Youth Organizations

The Kenya Community Development Foundation has organised a one day consultative forum with the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) Board. The Meeting will explore Public Accountability of Financial Resources for Kenya's Young People. The meeting isscheduled for Tuesday 15th September 2009.
The Consultative Forum will seek to:

1.       Review the YEDF accountability and transparency to key stakeholders. YEDF will demonstrate progress, challenges and envisioned way forward; and

2.       Solicit views and opinions from strategic youth organizations and other key stakeholders from civil society and the private sector on how to strengthen the Fund's accountability and transparency.

This meeting follows discussions among youth organizations and young people on Tuesday 11^th August 2009, in recognition of the International Youth Day where several youth organizations hosted a one day meeting with two sessions that focused on the successes and challenges of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) and the Kazi kwa Vijana Programme. At one session was a panel of experts at the Stanley Hotel and a second public forum at City Hall on 11^th August 2009. Among several others, one emerging factor was that young people lack clear avenues for seeking additional information and/or complaints or issues they may have with accessing the Youth Fund.   
Participant's input in the strategic forum will greatly contribute towards promoting partnership building between the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) and youth organizations to enhance transparency and accountability in the management of the YEDF as well as increase understanding by youth leaders on the Fund.
